Herman Slater Documentary in Development

Crowned & Conquering Productions announces a new documentary in the works about the life and times of Herman Slater and the New York City pagan underground. Herman Slater was a Wiccan High Priest and the proprietor of The Magical Childe, at one time the foremost occult bookstore in the USA. From it's humble beginnings in Brooklyn Heights as The Warlock Shop, the Magickal Childe morphed into what would become the central hub for occultists in the circus that was New York City of the 1970's and 80's. With Slater acting as ornery ring leader, the Magickal Childe played host to the burgeoning Wiccan movement, the city's Santeria and Voudoun underworld, Aleister Crowley's OTO, Satanic Panic and the creation of the dreaded Necronomicon. An early gay rights activist, Herman eventually fell victim to the AIDS epidemic in 1992 and the store struggled on but finally closed it's doors in 1999. Now for the first time the full story of this colorful character and a mostly unknown part of New York City's history can be told by those that were there and those who knew him.
